Red's notes
Jul. 23rd, 2018 08:43 pm- Red was born mute at birth, and can't speak at all. He can vocalize sounds of pain or distress, but because he usually went ignored as a child, he often just bites them back.
- He has a strong set of supernatural powers, known as "Glitching" by the professor who studied them. This "glitching" allows him to warp the world around him if he focuses, anywhere from modifying how things work (IE, letting him walk on water) to outright deleting things. It comes with a computer-like glitch appearance, and it can go out of control if he uses it too much, which can hurt people and Pokemon alike (if not outright kill/corrupt them). This made him even more reserved than his inability to speak, though he doesn't really try to hide his powers. As somewhat of an adult, he can control them far better than when he was a child. (See here for a list of those powers)
- One of his powers allows him to communicate telepathically. However, it seems to be imperfect, and not everyone can hear him. While it's not always clear why, it is known that those who don't want to hear him won't, because Red can't break any kind of mental barriers.
- Blue is Red's dearest friend. When they were young, Blue was the only one who'd pay attention to and play with Red and they got along well, especially since Blue could hear him through telepathy (though he never revealed that). The "rivalry" between them developed because even with a friend, Red could easily become lethargic or apathetic, worrying Blue until he found out that Red responded better to contests. Blue isn't really an asshole, essentially; he just played the part of one to give Red a "story" to act in and a reason to keep going. This backfired, however, when Red went to Mt. Silver and refused to come down, leading to Blue confessing the whole thing and dropping the act (though by that point, he'd gotten so used to it that he'd still come off as an ass to others at times).
- The only permanent Pokemon that Red has is his Pikachu. He still catches them where he can find them, but he's used his powers to make sort of a "personal paradise" for his Pokemon, where they can relax until they're needed. While he's often seen with the Kanto starters, he doesn't always use them.
